Our November program is a presentation on the early history of rattlesnake springs presented by Ephriam Dickson.
‘From Cattle Ranch to National Park: The early history of Rattlesnake Springs’ is an exploration of the early history of cattle ranching on the Black River, centered on
Henry “Hank” Harrison who claimed the land surrounding Rattlesnake Springs. The National Park Service later purchased this spring in 1934 to provide water for the thousands of visitors coming to Carlsbad Caverns each year.
